Right, Robert says a few works of thanks to the supporters gathered at the model home for the reception.
To officially celebrate the beginning of construction on the second phase of the subdivision and the opening of its new model home, a special reception was held in the model home, located in behind Canadian Tire on Wellington St., on June 16. Supporters, business partners, local dignitaries and Leeds-Grenville MPP Steve Clark were in attendance to help Westerra Homes' owners Robert and Ron Noseworthy cut the ribbon to launch phase 2, which will include another 31 lots, the same as was featured in the first phase.
"I'd like to say thank you to everybody. We stand on the shoulders of all who come before us," remarked Robert, the CEO of the company, who added that the municipality has been very supportive of the project. "They've allowed us to grow this and develop it so that it's a benefit to all."
Robert especially thanked Coldwell Banker Coburn Realty's Maureen Nolte, who completely sold out phase one. "I thank you for that and all of your efforts in making that happen," he said.
Mayor Bill Gooch who was in attendance at the reception along with councillors Tim Sutton and Barb Tobin, was happy Westerra Homes had chosen to come to North Grenville. "...I think the development is fantastic and provides a reason for people who would have left North Grenville to stay here, with the urban amenities you offer."
He indicated that the Forest Creek subdivision is just one of the many residential developments North Grenville is currently benefiting from and said that it will complement the Kemptville Colonnade development, now being constructed along County Road 43. "Last year was a fantastic year for North Grenville, but this one coming up is going to be bigger and better," he stated, adding that the Kemptville District Hospital expansion will soon be completed, work will soon begin on the St. Michael Catholic High School expansion and the new North Grenville District High School, as well as the new Canadian Tire and A&W in Colonnade. "We're growing like no other community in eastern Ontario and it's because of people like you who have had the confidence to come out here and work with our staff and make it happen."
Clark, who also attended the kick off of phase one last year with predecessor Senator Bob Runciman, was happy to see the development was flourishing. "...A lot of great things are going on in North Grenville and it's because people like you have made a commitment," he noted.
Westerra Homes, which was established in 2006 and whose head office is in North Grenville, prides themselves on being the only Energy Star certified builders in the area and Forest Creek subdivision focuses on single-family bungalows with high-performance windows, energy-efficient cooling, heating and insulation. The 16-acre piece of land upon which Forest Creek is being developed was purchased back in 2007.
