EMC Events - The Friends of the North Grenville Public Library (NGPL) are hard at work putting the finishing touches on the eighth annual Literary Follies event, set for this Sunday (March 7).

The event will once again be held in Leslie Hall on Clothier St. West in Kemptville, and feature a variety of local comedic and literary talent, as well as talented youth and musicians. It is set to kick off at 1:30 p.m. and will include a fundraising book sale in the hall as well. Admission is also free.

This year's Literary Follies program chair is Chris Morgan, who has secured a great line-up for the annual event, thanks to help from organizing committee members: George Buys, Patsy Brooks, Bill McElrea, Jean Kilfoyle, Mary Smith, Maggie Boyer, and Pat Babin.

In addition to North Grenville District High School students Bradley and Nathan Fumerton, Brandt and Lea Kryvenchuk, Michael and Peter Morgan, Conor and Meaghan Murphy, Grayson Nesbitt, Julianne Rousseau, and Erica Welch, the program will include:

- Maggie Wheeler, author of 'St. Lawrence Lost Villages,'

- Dr. David Shanahan, Canadian authority on D'Arcy McGee,

- Ottawa Citizen columnist and author Phil Jenkins,

- The Amazing Carowani Brothers, as well as many other talented comedians, singers and flutists.

Literary Follies serves as one of the Friends of the NGPL's biggest fundraisers of the year and raises funds to help support children's programs at the library.
